A hinged downspout extension is a excellent way to move the water from your gutter system away from your homes foundation. Being able to lift the downspout up and out of the way keeps you from crushing and damaging your downspout when you need to do lawn care! We recommend that the downspout elbow be installed 12" above the ground. You are much less likely to damage the elbow when using lawn care equipment right up under it. The hinge is made of .040 steel and coated with a baked on powder coated finish (the toughest paint available). Hinge color matches the downspout extension color. These sections of downspout extensions are made from .032 aluminum and will come with a Downspout Latch for holding it in the upright position.

The Hinged Downspout Extension Latch is included with your purchase of the 36 and 48 inch Downspout Extension. After testing this product for nearly a year (that is why these are not clean!) we did not experience a single issue with this design.
