Danger, Danger, Do Not Drink!
Water stored in the Aquabarrel® Rain Barrel Storage and Collection Device is NOT POTABLE WATER. THIS MEANS IT IS NOT TO BE USED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Please take precautions when storing water in any outdoor container.

Most people, especially children, think nothing of taking a sip from a hose. Please take measures to secure the hose connected to your rain water collection device. You must prevent anyone from drinking or bathing with water from any rain barrel as it may contain animal droppings, dust or roof composite.

If your roofing material has been treated with a moss inhibitor it may not be suitable for vegetable gardening either. Water from this barrel is for non-potable uses only. Wash the car, the windows, do most anything but do not consume it. Post a sign on your rain water barrel stating: DO NOT DRINK.

Deter Theft and Peeping Toms:
Do not install a rain barrel where it could be used to allow an intruder to gain access to your home.

Don't Breed Mosquitoes:
The West Nile Virus is becoming a nationwide problem. This virus is typically spread by mosquitoes. Buy non-toxic mosquito dunks to put in the rain barrel.

Prepare for Freezing Conditions:
Winterize your Aquabarrel® Rain Barrel.
We recommend that you empty all the water from the rain barrel at the end of the growing season or after the first frost. There is no value in having a frozen block of ice sitting near your downspout. If you are able to bring the barrel inside, that's great. If it is to remain outside, at a minimum, remove the hose and leave the "Full Flow" water shut-off valve in the open position. Reconnect your downspout to the gutter system and bypass the rain barrel completely. If you purchased a diverter, confirm that it is diverting the water into the alternate downspout not the rain barrel and remove the hose and leave the "Full Flow" water shut-off valve in the open position.

Yes, even death! On January 7, 2008 UPI reported: Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano said the couple had taken the 55-gallon plastic rain barrel inside their home to thaw ice inside it. The barrel was about one-third full once the ice had melted and the family's kitten is believed to have fallen in..."It looks like she was standing on something to reach down for the kitten and slid in herself," Solano told the New Mexican.

Rinse Cycle:  Try to cycle the water through the barrel as often as possible. Rinse the inside of the rain barrel occasionally. When the barrel is nearly empty open the shut off valve of the hose assembly and hose down the inside of the tank. You will be able to flush out a significant amount of residual sediment and clean off particulate matter clinging to the walls of the barrel. If there are large pieces of sediment you wish to flush out, consider the removal of the hose assembly before the rinse cycle. A safe cleaning solution is 2 teaspoons of castile soap and 2 teaspoons of vinegar per gallon of water or 2 teaspoons of lemon juice per gallon of water.

Shipping Policy:  All orders are shipped within two (2) business days of receipt. We are currently using FedEx-Ground, UPS and USPS as our primary carriers. With the exception of the orders shipping via First Class Mail all orders shipped via FedEx-Ground, UPS and USPS will receive an email with the tracking number included. If an order cannot filled within the time frame of two business days, an email or phone call will advise you as to when the product(s) will ship. You have the option of canceling your order and receiving a refund or allowing us fulfill your order as soon as we are able.

Return policy: We are unable to accept any barrel for return or exchange. ALL AQUABARREL® have had a previous life in the real world. They may come to you with previously attained bumps, bruises or scrapes. None of these cosmetic imperfections will effect the barrels ability to hold liquid. Keep in mind, you can always change the appearance of the barrel.

All other products are subject to a 25% restocking fee (not including shipping) and must be in 'like new' resale condition. You must email us with your request to return an item within 7 days of purchase. We will generate a Return Authorization Number within three business days. The RAN must be placed on the shipping label. Items returned without an RAN or not considered in 'like new' resale condition will not be accepted for return and will be disposed of upon receipt. Orders accepted for return are at the customers expense and should be sent "signature requested" and properly insured.
