The box that contains the pump, battery and controller is designed to sit on top or hang on the side of the metal cage. The solar panel can mount to the cage frame.

The pump will operate with 10 to 15 minutes run time with 30 minutes off. Tests found the pump did get warm in about 15 minutes but nowhere near the over heating point.

Pump puts out an average of 2.5 gallons per minute at about 25 PSI. There is a built in pressure switch that cuts off the pump at 45 PSI and when the pressure drops to 25 PSI the pump will restart. We've added a Flow Switch that will shut off the pump if the flow drops below .25 gallons per minute for longer than 30 seconds. The pump is rated to run dry but this Flow Switch is added protection so you don't burn up the pump.

The solar panel is 5 Watt. It provides about .4 AMPS at 12 VDC for charging the battery. A Charge Controller keeps the battery from over charging. Yes, it is possible to add additional solar panels up to 30 Watts. The battery is a sealed 12 Volt DC 14 AMP Hour. Under restrictive flow conditions it can run the pump for 1.6 hours or about 240 gallons.

Do the math. For every one square foot of roof, every time it rains 1", there is a 1/2 gallon of water that has to go somewhere!
