"S" shaped pattern permits debris to exit the front of the unit and still allow rain water to flow down the downspout.

This design does permit leaves and debris to get out but it also has a 'splash factor'. You still have to ensure that the leaves and gutter waste are removed for this unit to work effectively.

The top of the unit fits over the downspout so that the downspout is inside. The bottom slips inside the bottom section of downspout that continues to the ground.

Aquabarrel(TM) downspout filters are manufactured from the same high quality aluminum that your downspouts and gutters are made from. The 1/8" diameter holes allow for rain water to flow through while trapping larger downspout clogging leaves and debris.

Aquabarrel(TM) designed rain barrels benefit from having downspout filters in place to minimize debris entering the rain barrel.
