Take your Aquabarrel(TM) Rain Barrel off - line and winterize it.

After the growing season is over and before the first hard freeze, we recommend that the Aquabarrel(TM) Rain Barrel be taken off - line and winterized.

If you desire to clean the inside of your rain barrel, a safe cleaning solution is 2 teaspoons of castile soap and 2 teaspoons of vinegar per gallon of water or 2 teaspoons of lemon juice per gallon of water.

Prepare for Freezing Conditions. STORING WATER IN YOUR RAIN BARREL DURING FREEZING WEATHER WILL CAUSE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE.

• Empty all the water from the rain barrel.
• Bring the barrel inside, if possible or
• Remove "Full Flow" water shut-off valve.
• Reconnect your downspout to the gutter system or remove downspout adapter and connect it to your overflow pipe.
• Insert 4 inch, screened, fixed louver plug into the hole in the top of the barrel.
• Secure in place with 2 or 3 screws

Aquabarrel(TM) offers a 4 inch screened, fixed louver, winter plug adapter for the hole in the top of the barrel during the off season.
